Keep your reading skills strong this summer while earning fun prizes along the way! Students can pick up a reading tracker from Mrs. Lynne, our school librarian, and earn a prize for every 5 days of reading completed.

The school library will be open on Tuesdays from 9:00–10:30 a.m., beginning June 9 through August 18. Students are welcome to visit, check out books, and enjoy a great reading adventure all summer long. Please note that all students must be accompanied by an adult while visiting the library.

We hope you’ll join us for a summer filled with stories, learning, and fun. Happy reading! 📖

Davis School District has partnered with Waterford Upstart to provide our PreK children with an on-demand early learning program that gives you tools, coaching and resources so you can prepare your child for a bright future.

Program Benefits:

• Tailored software with fun and engaging lessons in reading, math and science that are done in just fifteen minutes a day
• Personalized family coaching and easy-to-use resources that support the work you’re already doing with your child
• A computer and internet access for those who qualify

As we wrapped up another successful school year last week, we didn't want to miss a chance to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to our amazing teachers, staff, students, families, and community for making this year such a wonderful success! Your support, dedication, and partnership help make our school a special place to learn and grow each day.

Don’t forget to keep those reading skills strong over the break! Students and families are invited to take advantage of our open library days every Tuesday from 9:00–10:30 am throughout the summer. We would love to see you there!

It is never easy to say goodbye to educators who have helped shape the heart of Cook Elementary. As some of our wonderful teachers begin new journeys and others celebrate retirement, we want them to know how deeply appreciated they are.

Today we welcomed back the graduating class of 2026 as they walked the halls of Cook Elementary one last time before graduation! 🎓

Our students, teachers, and staff lined the halls to cheer them on and celebrate all they have accomplished. It was a special moment seeing these graduates return to where their journey began.

Here are the 3 things to know for the week of May 18, 2026:

1. Zupas Spirit Night – TUESDAY, May 19th
Join us for our Zupas Spirit Night at Zupas in Syracuse from 4:00–9:00 PM. We hope to see many of our Cook families there supporting our school community!

2. Field Day – Thursday, May 21st
Our Field Day will be held on Thursday. Please send your student dressed in school-appropriate clothing that can get wet so they can fully participate and enjoy the activities.

3. Graduation Celebrations
We are excited to celebrate our students this week!
6th Grade Graduation will be held on Thursday, May 21st from 6:00–7:00 PM in the gym.
Kindergarten Graduation will be on Friday, May 22nd at 9:15 AM in the gym.

Yesterday, our Cook Cougars competed in the District Decathlon and our athletes were amazing! 🐾💙
A huge congratulations to our teams:
🏆 4th Grade Team — 1st Place
🥈 Afternoon 5th Grade Team — 2nd Place, Morning 5th Grade Team- 4th Place
🏆 6th Grade Team — 1st Place
Our students have worked so hard over the past few weeks, meeting with Coach Van Weezep and practicing diligently to prepare for this event. Their dedication, teamwork, and Cougar pride truly paid off!
We are so proud of all of our Cook Elementary students for representing our school so well. Way to go, Cook Cougars! 🎉

Thank you to our wonderful PTA and community for all of the creativity, generosity, and hard work that you have put into another successful school year.
Last week our incredible PTA turned Teacher Appreciation Week into the ultimate camping adventure. From Dutch Oven lunch, soda bars, filling treat orders, hot dog roasts, and awesome gifts to daily game challenges with wonderful prizes (special thanks to the individuals and local companies that donated prizes!!!) and an award assembly, every detail made our teachers feel loved and appreciated. Cook Elementary faculty and staff are grateful to be part of such an amazing and supportive community.

Here are the 3 things to know for the week of May 11, 2026:

1. All Library Books are due.
All library books are due back to the library. Please make sure that your students have returned all their library books.

2. Davis District Decathlon– Monday, May 11th
Finalists from our school will participate in our annual District Decathlon on Monday. The Davis School District Elementary Decathlon is an annual spring competition for 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade students, focusing on physical fitness, teamwork, and wellness.

3. NOT returning to Cook Elementary next year?
If you have students who will NOT be attending Cook Elementary next school year—other than those affected by the boundary change—please notify the office so we can plan classes accordingly for the upcoming school year.

On Monday, May 4th, the Cook Elementary Olympiad team competed at the annual district STEM Olympiad. We had 26 student participants competing in six different math and science events. Cook's team had a successful day bringing home 9 medals, including 1st place in 4th grade Sphero, 1st place in 5th grade Soma Cubes, 2nd place in 4th grade Ping Pong Parachutes, 2nd place in 6th grade Soma Cubes, 2nd place in 6th grade Sphero, 2nd place in 5th grade Sphero, 2nd place in 4th grade Soma Cubes, 3rd place in 5th and 6th grade Ping Pong Parachutes. Congratulations Cougars!

We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our local businesses for the incredible support you show to teachers in our community. Your generosity, whether through donations, partnerships, or simple words of encouragement, makes a real difference in the lives of educators and the students they serve.

This week we celebrate and thank our incredible teachers for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to our students. We are so grateful for all that they do each and every day!

We are thankful for our school nurse and the care, compassion, and support provided to our students and staff. Please join us in showing appreciation on this special day.

1) Our Acadience Reading and our RISE testing are both happening throughout this week. Please encourage your child to do their best on these assessments so we can see how much they have learned this year.
