America is turning 250 — and our students have something to say.

Davis School District is hosting Voices of a Nation: Student Perspectives on 250 Years of America, a districtwide speaking event aligned with America 250 Utah.

Students from every school and grade level are invited to apply to deliver an original speech about America’s past, present or future.

Selected students will receive mentorship and take the stage on May 4, 2026, at the Davis Instructional Services Center in Layton. The event will be professionally produced and live streamed for the community.

You don’t have to be famous to have something worth saying.

Take the mic. Share your idea. Be part of the story.

Applications due March 18.

Hello Cook Elementary Families-
We are nearing the end of our Tackle Hunger Food Drive. Our goal is to make 700 pantry packs for the Bountiful Food Pantry. The food donated benefits students throughout Davis County- including students from Cook Elementary! We are getting close to our goal but could still use your help! We will be extending the contest over the weekend. Items still needed are Easy Mac, granola bars, oatmeal packets, squeeze pouch applesauce, and cheese or peanut butter crackers. If you're having a difficult time finding Easy Mac in local stores, you can purchase it on Amazon. Cash donations are also accepted. We will wait until Wednesday to determine the winner of the pizza party. Thank you for your generous support in our efforts to Tackle Hunger!

FAQ-
Can a student bring another grade assigned item and have it still count for their grade?
YES- We will keep track of the number of items per grade level, not what was donated. (Assignments are made to ensure we get an even amount of items to make as many packs as possible.)

Does it have to be the Easy Mac?
YES- In order to fit all the items in a single, quart sized bag, it must be the Easy Mac (no cups, no boxes).

Can I donate money and have it counted toward the contest?
YES- Each dollar donated will count as 1 item.

Can I still donate after the last day?
YES- The food drive officially ends on the 6th of February. However, student council will not be assembling the packs until the 20th.

Thank you for your support! Go Cougars!
