Hello Cook Cougars!
I am Mr. King. I am so excited to be starting my third year here at Cook as the Principal. I have been married to my wonderful supportive wife, Sara, for 21 years. Together we have five children ranging in age from 10 to 20. My oldest attended Kindergarten and first grade here at Cook. I have lived in Davis County for 18 years and love the area.
Since I was in 9th grade I knew I wanted to teach Kindergarten. I also knew that someday I wanted to be a principal. When I finished high school I attended Weber State University where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood & Elementary Education with an emphasis in Science.
Once I had earned my degree I started teaching here at Cook Elementary, 20 years ago, as a half time kindergarten teacher and half time science teacher. In the first few years here I taught half day kindergarten and science to 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade, as well as, computers to 3rd grade. During my last few years at Cook I taught kindergarten full time and completed a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy at The University of Utah. After seven wonderful years I left to be the Administrative Intern for Sand Springs Elementary for a year and a half. From there I went to the Family Enrichment Center where I was the Infant/Toddler Manager for nine and a half years. It was a great experience.
I believe all children have the right to learn and progress. Partnerships between families, communities and schools are the best way to provide children with opportunities to grow and develop. Technology will play a huge role in our students future and we are responsible to provide students meaningful experiences with technology. I look forward to working with the community, the outstanding students and teachers here at Cook Elementary.
